Police bust inter-state human trafficking gang; two newborns rescued

Hyderabad: Miyapur police along with the Special Operations Team (SOT) Shamshabad, busted an interstate human trafficking racket operating from Hyderabad and rescued two newborn infants. Acting on credible information, the police apprehended 11 accused, including an IVF agent, from within Miyapur limits and other parts of the city while they were in the process of illegally selling the babies.

The gang targeted economically vulnerable families across the country, inducing them to part with their newborns for money, and later sold the infants to affluent, childless couples for hefty sums through a well-organized network.

The prime accused include an IVF agent and a habitual offender with involvement in multiple cases across Cyberabad, Rachakonda and Hyderabad. In the present case, one infant was procured from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, and another from Ramanpet in Siddipet district through middlemen. The accused included Vemula Babu Reddy (Kadapa), Venkipally Gangadhar Reddy (East Godavari), Daram Laxmi (Kothagudem), Ram Hari Roy (Bihar), Kummari Harsha Roy (Hyderabad), Sangeeta Debi (Hyderabad), Gudepu Sujatha (Kurnool), Suraboina Anuradha (Siddipet), Esarapu Jyothi (Nalgonda), V Madhavi (Hyderabad) and Pothula Sobha (Nagarkurnool).

Both infants were safely handed over to Sishu Vihar, Ameerpet. The arrests were made by SOT Cyberabad and Miyapur Police under the supervision of Madhapur zone DCP Ritiraj, Shamshabad DCP B Rajesh and Madhapur DCP (SOT) P Shobhan Kumar. The Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad, appreciated the teams for the successful operation.
